Clock Transition Systems

چکیده
The objective of the paper is to introduce a new model capable of modeling both Time Petri Nets (TPNs) and Networks of Timed Automata (NTA). We called it Clock Transition System (CTS). This new model incorporates the advantages of the structure of Petri nets, while introducing explicitly the concept of clocks. Transitions in the network can be guarded by an expression on the clocks and reset a subset of them as in timed automata. The urgency may be introduced by a separate description of invariants. We show that CTS allow to express TPNs (even when unbounded) and NTA. For those two classical models, we identify subclasses of CTSs equivalent by isomorphism of their operational semantics and provide (syntactic) translations. The classical state-space computation developed for NTA and then adapted to TPNs can easily be defined for general CTSs. Armed with these merits, the CTS model seems a good candidate to serve as an intermediate theoretical and practical model to factor out the upcoming developments in the TPNs and the NTA scientific communities.

Clock Distribution Networks with Gradual Signal Transition Time Relaxation for Reduced Power Consumption
Clock distribution network consumes a significant portion of the total chip power since the clock signal has the highest activity factor and drives the largest capacitive load in a synchronous integrated circuit. A new methodology is proposed in this paper for buffer insertion and sizing in an H-tree clock distribution network. The objective of the algorithm is to minimize the total power consu...
متن کاملHigh-performance and Low-power Clock Branch Sharing Pseudo-NMOS Level Converting Flip-flop
Multi-Supply voltage design using Cluster Voltage Scaling (CVS) is an effective way to reduce power consumption without performance degradation. One of the major issues in this method is performance and power overheads due to insertion of Level Converting Flip-Flops (LCFF) at the interface from low-supply to high-supply clusters to simultaneously perform latching and level conversion. In this p...

Saving energy is one of the most important challenges of todaychr('39')s world. Reducing electrical energy consumption in compressed air systems is one of the essential requirements for designing these systems. When using domestic air conditioners (dual air conditioners) in very hot areas (Khuzestan) their performance decreases and electric current consumption increases. Therefore, the use of n...
متن کاملEvent-Clock Automata: A Determinizable Class of Timed Automata
We introduce event-recording automata. An event-recording automaton is a timed automaton that contains, for every event a, a clock that records the time of the last occurrence of a. The class of event-recording automata is, on one hand, expressive enough to model ( nite) timed transition systems and, on the other hand, determinizable and closed under all boolean operations. As a result, the lan...

Synchronizers and other methods may become ineffective for high performance systems implemented at future technologies, operating at clock frequencies above 1GHz . As a transition from fully synchronous to fully asynchronous implementations, such a system can be implemented as a multi-synchronous system, wherein a common clock is distributed over thin wires, avoiding the massive power investmen...

A Bang-Bang Clock-Data Recovery (CDR) for 10 Gb/s optical transmission systems is presented. A direct modulated architecture is used for the design. Its loop characteristics can be derived using an analogy to 61 theory. The circuit was produced and measured in a commercial 0.25μm BiCMOS technology with a transition frequency fT=70 GHz.
